4. Avoid Dark Colors in Outdoor Decorations
Dark-colored balloons absorb heat quicker, causing them to contract, oxidize, and even break sooner. Instead, use light colors, which don't show as much wear and tear, especially under the sun. (μπαλονια)
What I Do
I try to convince clients to go with lighter colors for outdoor events, especially when it would be around noon with the strong sun. If there's a need for darker colors, inflate the balloons smaller than their original size, such as 9 inches instead of 11 inches, to reduce the risk of popping.
5. Keep Balloons in the Shade
Leaving the balloons in direct sunlight is disastrous. Spending too much time in the sun causes them to oxidize, lose shine, shrink, and even pop.
To Avoid This
- Position your decorations in places that are away from direct sunlight to prevent damage.
- If the client insists on placing balloons in direct sunlight, explain the possible downsides, such as the balloons bursting, fading quickly, and shrinking. Try to find a compromise to minimize the time the decorations spend under the sun.
6. Avoid Over-Inflating Balloons
Outdoor conditions, such as heat, can lead to the expansion of balloons. This increases the likelihood of bursting if the balloons have been inflated to full capacity.
Methods to Avoid Over-Expansion
- Always inflate the balloons slightly below the average size, leaving extra space for expansion due to heat.
- If working in temperatures around 37ºC, consider inflating larger balloons—such as 16-inch balloons—to a smaller size, around 11 inches, to avoid breakage.
Key to Success
Be very careful with the care of balloons: do not over-inflate them, use lighter colors, and keep them in the shade. This will ensure that your balloon displays last longer and maintain their beauty, providing a more professional look and encouraging your clients to refer more business your way.
Pay extra attention to controlling these factors, and watch your balloon decorations rise above your competitors while assuring complete client satisfaction! (μπαλονια γενεθλιων)
